BAND MANAGER Kevin "Chief" M. Kelly: Joined the band in 2002,Shortly after moving to Spencerport from the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Recognizing his ability to shop and “make a deal’’...Chief was elected Quartermaster in 2003 and now after a 4 year go of it, has now been elected as our new band manager. Prior to his retirement from police work in 2000, he was a member of the law enforcement community both in New York and Pennsylvania for thirty four years serving as Chief of Police of the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, Stroudsburg, PA, the Borough of Stroudsburg Police Department, and the Village of Great Neck Estates Police Department, Great Neck, NY. He is a founding/life member of the Pocono Region Pipes and Drums established in 1997. Learning to play the bagpipes is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Although he readily admits “there is always something new to learn”. Additionally, he is a member of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, the Nassau County Police Emerald Society, the Retired Police Association of New York and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police Stroud Lodge #75. | PIPE MAJOR Lt James VanBrederode: A 20 yr. veteran of the Gates Police Dept., was a founding member of the band in 1998 and subsequently became Pipe Major after mastering the nine notes on the chanter first!. Jim is the Patrol Commander of the Gates Police overseeing the day to day operations of the road patrol. As Pipe Major, Jim enjoys putting together a performance with all the pomp and circumstance! "If you can't capture the attention of an audience in the first few minutes, you might as well stop and go home." "A performance, whether it is a funeral, wedding, or graduation ceremony, needs to be entertaining." Keeping it simple and elegant are his words of advice. "Also, a band is only as good as the people who are involved, you can have the best equipment, the nicest uniforms, but it is your people who make the band a success." Lt. VanBrederode is also the Treasurer of the Western New York Concerns of Police Survivors Chapter and volunteers his time assisting surviving families.
| DRUM MAJOR Brian O'Connor: It was at the Rochester’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2000, that my son Mike and I got acquainted with the Keystone Police Pipe and Drum Band. Soon after that, we where both totally involved in the band and attending as much of their functions as we could. Mike became a Piper and I was their Bass Drummer. Three years ago, the band approached me wanting me to be their Drum Major. With over 20 years as a Civil War Re-enactor, I thought it was because of my knowledge of military maneuvers and marching techniques that endeared me to them. I only found out later that it was because I‘m 6’ 9" and 275 pounds that I stood out and what better place to put me was in front of the Band. My experiences with the Band have been fantastic and have exceeded all of my expectations. I could not be prouder to be in front of an organization that continues to remember and honors those who have gone before. Let us not forget those who serve! Pipe Sergeant Terry Cramer: was named pipe sergeant in 2006. With his wife’s insistence that he needed a hobby, Terry attended a bagpiping class taught by Chris Mears at the Gates-Chili Adult Continuing Education program. With a varied musical background including playing the trombone, trumpet and French horn in high school, as well as high school chorus, the Geneseo Chamber Singers and various church choirs, Terry quickly “graduated” to the pipes. Terry joined the Gates Keystone Pipes and Drum band in 2004. He has since also joined the Rochester Scottish Pipes and Drums in 2006 and loves playing the wide variety of music both bands perform. Terry enjoys passing on his love of music by helping new members of the band become productive piper.
| Pipe Sergeant Dana Barrett: Has been with the Band since the year 2000. She joined when she was just a teenager, and presently continues to pursue her musical interests at the College level at SUNY Fredonia. Since becoming a Pipe Sergeant, she continues to share her teaching of the Great Highland Bagpipe. She also shares her marching skills, finely tuned as Drum Major at GCHS, and once in a while, you will see her dabble with the Drumline. Dana can be credited with starting a "Family Affair" to support the Band, as her sisters, her brother in law, and Mom & Dad are also part of the Band.
| Pipe Sergeant Devon Lepore: was voted in as Pipe Sergeant at the 2005 annual meeting.

| DRUM SERGEANT Craig Henderberg: has been serving as the drum sergeant for the Gates Police Keystone Club Pipes and Drums almost as long as he has been a member of the band. After being thrust into the role of bass drummer at the 2003 Spencerport Fireman's Parade, Craig brushed up his marching skills while learning to play the Highland style snare. Since being elected drum sergeant, Craig has worked hard to recruit new drummers and educate our old ones to create a solid snare line. He also relies on his ever present swing tenor twins Mike and Dave and our bullpen of bass drummers to complete the bands percussion section. Through his hard work in the off-season, and through exemplary support from Drum Corporal Lance Duffy, the marching madness that is the Keystone's drum line helped to catapult the band to numerous first place finishes throughout the 2004 parade season. As a non-emergency worker member of the band Craig feels "No greater pride than to wear the Gates uniform anywhere in Monroe County and beyond." Whether honoring a fallen officer, remembering our veterans, entertaining a crowded parade route, or partying in the beer tent, He never forgets the mission of the band, and the honor that comes with being a part of it.
| | DRUM CORPORAL Michael Roche: is one of the tenor drummers, "the real swingers" of the drum line. He joined the band in 2001 after many months of practice. Back in the day, he was a part-time Police Officer with East Rochester P.D. and for 8 years was a part-time Deputy Sheriff with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He has been a volunteer FF/EMT with the West Webster Fire District for 15 years and a past member (18 years) of Penfield Emergency Ambulance. All agencies, of course, will disavow any knowledge of his existence. He is the only current member of the band to have served in all 3 branches of Rochester’s only official Police/Fire/EMS band. Mike truly appreciates being a part of a band where the mission is more important than the individual. "It is true honor to be a part of the final salute to our fallen brothers and sisters in all of the public safety agencies". "No one is left behind, No one is ever forgotten."
